The science and philosophy behind Mann Ka Calendar — and what your daily phase actually means.
In Vedic astrology, the Moon is the planet of the mind. It governs how you think, feel, perceive, and respond. Unlike the Sun — which stays in one sign for a month — the Moon moves through all twelve signs every 27–28 days, spending roughly 2½ days in each sign.
As the Moon transits through each sign, it passes through zones of varying astrological strength — zones that are unique to your birth chart. In some signs, the Moon collects many auspicious points. In others, it collects few. This is what determines your daily phase.
The system uses a classical Vedic technique called Bhinnashtakavarga. For each of the twelve zodiac signs, this technique calculates how many of the eight astrological factors (seven planets + the Ascendant) contribute auspicious energy to the Moon's transit through that sign.
The result is a number from 0 to 8 for each sign — called rekhas. More rekhas means a stronger Moon, a clearer mind, higher energy. Fewer rekhas means a weaker Moon, more mental friction.
| Rekhas | Phase | What It Means |
|---|---|---|
| 7–8 | VVHP | Very Very High Phase — peak clarity, strong decisions, high energy |
| 6 | VHP | Very High Phase — excellent mental state, good for demanding work |
| 5 | HP | High Phase — above average, productive and steady |
| 4 | Neutral | Neutral — average day, no strong push in either direction |
| 3 | LP | Low Phase — below average, conserve energy, avoid big decisions |
| 2 | VLP | Very Low Phase — significant mental drag, rest and reduce output |
| 0–1 | VVLP | Very Very Low Phase — avoid major activity, protect yourself |
The same meeting, the same conversation, the same challenge — lands completely differently depending on your phase of mind. Mann Ka Calendar doesn't change what happens. It gives you the awareness to navigate it more intelligently.
On high phases: schedule demanding work, make important decisions, have difficult conversations. On low phases: rest, do routine tasks, avoid commitments you'll regret. On neutral: normal operations, stay aware.
We compute your Bhinnashtakavarga from your exact birth date, time, and place — using your personalised Vedic birth chart.
For every day of the year, we calculate which sign the Moon transits and how many rekhas it collects in that sign from your chart.
Each day gets a phase from VVLP to VVHP, modified by the Sarvashtakavarga score of that sign — which measures the quality of your external environment on that day.
Your PDF calendar shows every day of the year with its phase — so you can plan months in advance, not just react day to day.
The Moon's rekha score tells you your inner mental phase. The Sarvashtakavarga (Sarv) score adds a second layer — it reflects the quality of the outer environment during that transit.
While rekhas are calculated from the Moon's chart alone, Sarv is computed from all seven planets combined, giving a picture of how supportive or resistant the broader astrological environment is for you on that day.
Each sign gets a Sarv score between 0 and 56. The average is around 28. Signs scoring well above average amplify your phase — a High Phase day in a strong Sarv sign feels noticeably stronger. Signs scoring well below average dampen it — even a technically high phase can feel flat or constrained when the environment is not supportive.
Your calendar PDF gives you the full year — your Moon phase for every day, planned in advance. DTQ goes one layer deeper.
Every morning, DTQ calculates the combined transit quality of all seven planets for that specific day — not just the Moon. It gives you a single daily score that reflects the overall astrological quality of the day across your entire chart, not just your mental phase.
Think of your Moon phase as the weather for your mind. DTQ is the broader forecast — how the whole sky is positioned for you today.
DTQ is a live daily update. It is not included in your calendar PDF — it is delivered fresh each morning through the Mann Ka Calendar mobile app.
